What To Expect: Child Anxiety/OCD Treatment

Initial Diagnostic Interview

A 60-90 minute interview will be conducted to evaluate symptoms of anxiety, contributing factors, and any other concerns.

Psychological Measures

You and your child will complete evidence-based psychological measures to help clarify symptom severity and identify any other possible concerns. Information from the interview and these measures will be used to create a treatment plan individualized to your family.

Individual Sessions

Sessions will be conducted online with a child psychologist who specializes in child anxiety.

Treatment Options:

  1. Your child will participate in 10-16 therapy sessions using a proven CBT method.

  2. You (caregiver(s)) will participate in parent sessions using proven SPACE treatment protocol.

  3. You will receive a combination of child and parent sessions.

Educational Recommendations

When needed, the psychologist will discuss possible accommodations that could benefit your child at school. We can provide a letter recommending accommodations to your child’s school for no additional charge.

Review of Progress

As part of your child’s treatment, progress will be monitored regularly. Treatment will be completed when (1) your child’s symptoms no longer impact their daily life functioning and (2) they have learned adequate tools to address future stressors.

Intensive Anxiety Services

Intensive Services are Appropriate for families who would like to accelerate their child or teen’s progress.

Intensive Anxiety Services for children have been shown to be as effective as weekly sessions. These services are tailored to your child and can look differently depending on your needs. For instance:

  • Weekly extended sessions (2 hours)

  • 3-4 half-day treatment sessions

These services are most expensive, but provide fast results and a shorter duration of treatment. This is often a good fit for busy families who have trouble committing to longer-term hourly sessions.
